Software Engineer-Embedded Systems ( DO-178B )
Sierra Nevada Corporation's Communication, Navigation, Surveillance / Air Traffic Management business is continuing to grow in support of its customers and seeks qualified and highly motivated individuals to join our team in Sparks, NV.
Sparks is immediately adjacent to Reno and only 20 minutes drive from scenic Lake Tahoe in the heart of the Sierra. In addition to the night life, this area offers world class skiing, mountain biking, backpacking, hiking, kayaking – all of the outdoor adventures imaginable.
We provide capability to both military and civil aviation users supplying them with state of the art radar based technology solutions for 3 Dimensional Imaging, Sense and Avoid,, automatic landing, navigation and communications systems. We design, build, integrate, and operate these highly capable platforms around the world.

Candidate will join a talented team of experienced software engineers in the development of a new DO-178B Level B, FAA certified Enhanced Flight Vision System. Tasks will require development of real-time, embedded software under FAA DO-178B development processes ultimately yielding FAA certification for Enhanced Flight Vision capability comprised of non-TSO airborne radar systems.
Successful execution of these tasks requires experience in developing software for embedded, real-time applications meeting program schedules and budgets.
The Software Engineer will generate detailed, measurable artifacts to evidence progress in support of key program milestones during the course of the development. This will include a basic understanding of cost and schedule reporting and measurement leveraging the Earned Value system.

Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Candidate shall have 2+ years of relevant experience in real-time, embedded systems software development.

The ideal candidate will have a B.S. Degree, or higher, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field.
